Billionaire hedge funderBill Ackmanand brilliant MIT professor Neri Oxman are engaged after we revealed earlier this year that the couple was dating.

Fast Company reported that Ackman mentioned the engagement at the Grants investor conference at the Plaza last week.Page Six reported in Junethat Oxman made a trip to Paris to see her activist investor beau Ackman compete in the Finance Cup tennis tournament. A pal told us at the time that they would not be surprised if Ackman popped the question.

We also reported in April that Oxman wasbeing wooed by Brad Pitt, but sources said they were just friends, and Oxmansaid in a New York Times profilethis month that she did not date Pitt but wants to work on a project with him. (Oxmans also collaborated with Björk.)

A rep for Ackman confirmed the engagement but did not comment further.

Ackman and Oxman were both previously married.
