I think I laugh because, I mean, its funny, weve just gotten to a point in life where Bill and I can both laugh about more things, she explained. And, believe me, I can remember some days that were so incredibly hard in our marriage where you thought, Can I do this?

Look of love: Melinda Gates, 54, said one of the secrets to staying married to her tech titan husband, Bill, 63, is patience
She recalled being furious with her husband years ago because he was reading a book about Winston Churchill instead of helping her pack up the car and get their children ready.
Although Melinda credited patience with helping her stay married to a work-obsessed entrepreneur, she said he is actually pretty easy to live with most of the time.
He needs a little training, and hed tell you that too, she added, noting that she was the one who helped him find a work-life balance.
When he was having trouble making the decision about getting married, he was incredibly clear that it was not about me, it was about Can I get the balance right between work and family life? she explained.
She said that it was a love of puzzles that brought her and her future husband together and that she won his heart by beating him at a math game.
Over the years, tech tycoons such as Tesla co-founder Elon Musk have become highly-coveted partners, with people who pursue them for their wealth being dubbed founder hounders.
Melinda said she doesnt know what to make of the phenomenon, making it clear that her relationship with Bill had nothing to do with his status as an entrepreneur.
But I think I was a little bit predisposed because Im a computer science major, so when I was in college the people I spent a lot of time with were young men and a lot of them were geeky.
The couple married in 1994 and welcomed their first child, Jennifer, two years later. In addition to Jennifer, 22, they are also parents to a son, Rory, 19, and a younger daughter, Phoebe, 16.
Melinda candidly wrote about the loneliness she felt in her marriage after they welcomed their eldest daughter and how she fought to be on equal footing with her husband.
The two celebrated their 25-year-anniversary in January, and Melinda paid tribute to Bill on Instagram by sharing a heartwarming video from their wedding on New Years Day 1994.
In the clip, she is laughing hysterically has Bill tries to cut the cake.
This is the moment I realized what was happening and also the moment you realized that cake had a cardboard middle and I had forgotten to mention it. I laughed so hard I couldnt speak.
I thought my heart was full that night, but the last 25 years have taught me just how full a heart can get. Happy anniversary, @thisisbillgates!
Melinda told The Sunday Times that Bill wanted a party for their anniversary, but she didnt feel like it, so they headed to their favorite spot in Mexico instead.
When I married Bill, I got a reading partner for life. We just finished A Gentleman in Moscow, which we read while celebrating our 25th anniversary, she wrote. I realize were a bit behind on this one, but if you havent read it yet, we highly recommend it.
During the interview, she also opened up about creating a source of normalcy for their children when their father is worth $100 billion.
You try and surround them with communities who believe in who they are, she said. You can suss out people pretty quickly, and I had to teach them their radar very early of who likes them for them, and whos excited to come see our house, or meet their dad
Although they are worth billions, Bill has stated that each of his three children will inherit just $10 million each.
However, that doesnt make it any less daunting for their childrens prospective partners who are being brought home to meet mom and dad.
We have a tradition in our family that when we sit down to dinner we all go round and say one thing were thankful for, she explained. We had this kid go last, but I didnt have the heart to tell him that we also all hold hands because he was next to my husband and I thought, Oh my God, this boy is going to pass out.
As for creating a sense of normalcy for herself, she keeps a spiritual journal and meditates at least once a day. She also has a spiritual group of girlfriends that she has been hanging out with at least once a month for the past 18 years.
Were going through these circles of life together: marriages, pregnancies, the deaths of some spouses, aging parents. I feel like the biggest beneficiary because I happen to be the youngest, she said.
